Consumer brands are always looking for a fresh angle for their Big Game promotions.
Over the last month, Tornados, a snack brand of Ruiz Foods, encouraged fans to share the sad story of their favorite team’s failed season on Facebook using our Fan Ideas application.
Over 650 Tornados fans told their team’s terrible tale of pigskin woe during the Big Game Blues promotion. The stories inspired more than 40,000 interactions and nearly 3,000 votes, while the brand added more than 5,000 new fans in only three weeks.
Even though his team didn’t come close to playing in the Big Game this season, Timothy Lee Lapp of Inverness, Fla., won big. Tim’s humorous take on his team’s shortcomings — and his fun jab at Facebook — inspired hundreds of votes and won him the grand prize of a 50″ HDTV, three cases of Tornados and a Big Game viewing party.
“My team never had a prayer mainly because they were drafted on Facebook. The team members were chosen after hitting the ‘Become a Fan’ button on the team’s Facebook page.” (Check out more of Tim’s winning story on Facebook!)
The promotion was hosted on the Tornados fan page on Facebook using Bulbstorm’s innovative Fan Ideas application which enables fans to submit, rate and comment on products, brands, ideas and more. The Fan Ideas application has helped a number of brands in various industries create engaging interactions on their Facebook fan pages.
